[Antibiotic prophylaxis in surgery].

چکیده
One of the more dramatic effects of antimicrobial chemotherapy has been its influence on the practice of modern surgeryl. The use of perioperative antibiotic prophylaxis has been shown to prevent post-surgical wound and other infections. When employed rationally, significant reductions in morbidity and mortality as well as savings in resources can be clearly demonstrated. However; when used excessively in conditions where its benefit has not been established, negative effects like unjustifiably high costs of medical care and the emergence of bacterial resistance can occur.

METHODS We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, and CENTRAL for parallel-group randomized trial...
متن کاملWhat is the evidence for use of antibiotic prophylaxis in clean-contaminated head and neck surgery?
BACKGROUND Antibiotic prophylaxis is commonly used in head and neck surgery. Prophylactic use of antibiotics in clean surgical cases is not clearly indicated, but evidence exists for use in cases of clean-contaminated surgery, such as major head and neck oncologic procedures. Despite evidence specifically outlining the indications for antibiotic prophylaxis, there continues to be widespread var...
